On March 21 and 22, Hotel Excelsior in Lovran hosted the annual “Civil Protection and Crisis Management” (SIGG) conference, organized by the professional journal Zaštita, under the auspices of the Municipality of Lovran, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the Croatian Counties/Cities Disaster Risk Reduction Platform.

The conference focused on topics related to local and national security challenges, disaster risk reduction and crisis management during natural disasters such as fires, floods and earthquakes. We also got an insight into new projects and technologies for safer cities and communities, with a special focus on Smart City projects, video surveillance, traffic systems, communications, cyber security, and similar areas.

This year, the two-day conference hosted more than 150 distinguished experts in urban security and civil and private protection.

The conference was opened by Marijan Vundać, president of the Croatian Counties/Cities Disaster Risk Reduction Platform and Bojan Simonič, Mayor of Lovran Municipality.
